Born In October

"Such dreamy acousticism and a close mic vocal that tells us we are amongst friends. Plenty of friends, all feeling insecure but safe in the knowledge that we have each other. The call and response between the singer's is quite special...Something good is happening here, our internal fears set to a charming lullabye."- MP3Hugger (Indie Music Blog, Ireland)
City boy Matt Thomson (vocals, guitar) and country girl Rachel Webster (vocals, guitar, ukulele and percussion) comprise indie/folk duo Born in October. Fresh from the studio with their debut EP recorded by multi award winning producer Mark Myers in Cairns, set to be released on February 24th, the pair continue to pen new material, whilst nibbling copious quantities of grapes and nuts (their secret weapon songwriting fuel of choice). The duo have turned the challenges of living 5 hours apart into an advantage, fusing their country hick and city hip, by playing gigs and festivals in both of these worlds. They recently added a folk flavour at the Tamworth Country Music festival with a series of shows, and will launch their debut EP 'Running in Bare Feet' at the uber cool Newsagency in Annandale, Sydney. Other festival appearances include: St Albans Folk Festival, Nimbin Roots Festival, Nundle Go For Gold Festival and Burn By Night Festival (Goulburn). 'Free of Heart', the first song off their EP, has just this week been announced as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition in the Folk/Singer-songwriter category.
